The purpose of installing the internal floating roofs was to reduce air emissions from the Bay City Plant by 24 tons/yr. This project was a part of the plant Waste and Release Reduction (WARR) effort for 1993. Prior to the floating roof installation, the chemicals were stored at atmospheric pressure in cone roof storage tanks and emitted 26 tons/yr of chemicals to the atmosphere due to evaporative vapors escaping to the atmosphere.
