Description:

In March 2000, the Army's Senior Environmental Leadership Conference directed all installations to develop a sustainability program to ensure the ability of future generations to train and use the land in the same manner we use it today. Fort Hood held its sustainability conference in June 2002, inviting state and federal regulators, on and off post stakeholders, local community leaders, and other environmental professionals to help map out Fort Hood's 25 year goals. Five long-term goals were developed, teams were formed and began to refine the goals and develop objectives and targets to meet those goals, and to finalize preformance indicators to allow for tracking and verifying of the progress.

P2 Application:

A battery recycling program was initiated which saves thousands of pounds of batteries from going to the landfill.
