Description:

A major operator in the exploration and production of natural gas in the eastern Oklahoma region, Amoco operates 9 separate compression facilities with varying compression capabilities. The use of chemicals in Amoco's workplace was significant and necessary.

P2 Application:

Creation of database of all chemicals purchased and used. New policy instituted for procurement of chemicals. Improved tracking of materials.

Environmental Benefits:

Elimination of 32 unnecessary chemicals and consumer products. Using alternative package and eliminating 50% of chemical deliveries. Improved regulatory compliance. 90% reduction of listed hazardous wastes from 1995 to 1996. Improved worker health and safety.
