Description:

Our facility uses a large amount of energy, so we saw significant potential savings for implementing a number of energy conservation projects. By changing the way we maintain and use some of our equipment, we were able to achieve substantial energy and dollar savings.

P2 Application:

The grieve oven doors in our process were not sealing properly and thus warmed air was escaping the units causing more natural gas to be burned to keep the temperature elevated. Since these ovens operate 24 hours per day a lot of energy was being lost. A thicker material was installed to seal the doors better and more screws were added to hold it in place better.

  • Total Cost Savings: $7,196.00
  • Comments: The pay back period for this project was less than 1 week. Savings are calculated on an annual basis. The savings do no take into account the cost of new gasket materials and the labor to install the materials.

Details of Reductions

  • Comments: Reduced 608.30 MMBtu natural gas
